Just
a note to thank you for a wonderful site. It is the first time, after
a lot of searching that I have been able to see Lower Heyford properly.
My
great grandfather was the stationmaster there in the late 1800s, and
my father spent time there as a boy, between the years of 1914 and
1920, living in a cottage he called Ivy Cottage, which still remains
today.

This
photo taken in 1930 is of Ivy Cottage (House) in Lower Heyford, where
my grandparents, Edward and Isa Gold lived with my dad Richard between
1914 and 1920.
My
father, Richard Gold, known as Dick, went to the village school from
1914 to 1920, with periods between, returning to Australia. Miss Dew,
who taught him, wrote to him in Australia for many years, only stopping
just before her death.

This photo is of the school class at Lower Heyford School, taken at
a guess around 1917. My father is the third from the right on the
third row from the bottom. Maybe if there are any relatives of the
others in the photo that may see this, they will recognise them.

This
photo of Rousham House was taken in 1930.
