MEXICAN EVENING AT SOMERTON VILLAGE HALL

Ever tried a Tequila Sunrise? I hadn't - until few weeks ago when about 60 people gathered to "go Mexican" in our Village Hall - BEFORE it's "makeover". A delightfully attractive drink with its subtle graduation of orange and yellow, a Tequila Sunrise (tequila, grenadine, orange juice) tastes as good as it looks. Also available was a drink which polarised Pete C (aaah!) and me (ugh!) - a Margarita (tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and salt(!)).

Pete 'worked his socks off' in the kitchen (and in his own kitchen) producing tacos with cheese and salsa topping, chorizo salsa, tortilla stack with chicken and feta cheese, accompanied by re-fried beans with chicken rice. DEEEElicious! Generous portions of pecan pie and ice cream gilded the lily.

Pete also provided us with appropriate Mexican music and there was a humorous interlude when Jon S sang his own words to "South of the Border" based on village people and events. Did they enjoy it? Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye!

Tracy, Angela, Derek and Linda (B-W) decorated the hall and/or served the food and Robert did sterling work behind the bar. All in all, a really great evening. Thanks to you all who worked for it and came to it. With functions of this quality the village hall can be a great asset to our community.
